42nd Street Director's Week in York

Martyn Knight is in York for a week working on our production of 42nd Street

Director Martyn Knight’s week in residence is not just an intensive schedule of five evenings and one whole day of rehearsing for “42nd Street”. It involves a lot of 'off-stage' activity as well.
On Wednesday, Martyn, with Wardrobe Team Jean Wilkinson and Suzanne Ayers, accompanied by Chairman Geoff Turner, undertook a 250 mile round trip to discuss costumes with Jo Hunt and Lisa Marsh of The Loft Costumiers, near Leicester.
On Friday, Martyn, with lighting designer Ollie Brown, Backstage Team David Pumfrey and Mark Nicholson, Musical Director Phil Redding and Chairman Geoff met with Jude Cloke, Production Manager at the Theatre Royal, to discuss all aspects of getting the show into the Theatre. It’s been a busy week !!
Following rehearsals on Sunday Martyn travels south to be in Eastbourne in time for his own rehearsals on Monday morning, to star as Dame Dolly in “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” at the Devonshire Park Theatre.
