About our Wardrobe
York Light Opera has a large collection of costumes that are available to hire. Our collection is suitably stored to ensure that all items remain in good condition. All of our Wardrobe and its hire is co-ordinated by Jean Wilkinson.
We pride ourselves on wearing high quality costumes and over the past few years we have created our own wardrobe for Jesus Christ Superstar and The Witches of Eastwick.
All money raised from our wardrobe hire is used to maintain and repair existing stock, buy new items and fund dry cleaning costs.
Show Hire
We have a set of costumes available for hire for The Witches of Eastwick, cockney costumes for My Fair Lady and some costumes for Thoroughly Modern Millie. Photos can be seen by clicking on the show titles. We are usually also able to accomodate those who may only wish to hire part of the set. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

General Hire
We have a large selection of evening dresses suitable for all occasions, a large selection of fancy dress costumes, show costumes, period costumes, wedding hats, evening suits and shoes for men and ladies.
Costs
Charges for single items generally range between £5 and £20. The total cost of hire will depend on the type and number of items being hired, the duration of the hire and the travelling distance. We will happily provide photographs prior to any hire on request.
